LLEGADA A BIRMINGHAM

Apreciadas familias:

Anna: 00547514093633

LAST DAY

Today is the last day of our summer camp. The guys have been having a lot of fun, and we love seeing smiles in their faces, with also some tears because we are reaching the end.

Classes today were special, because they had a little party and a little gymkhana made by the teachers. Then, we had lunch. Meanwhile, the leaders were finishing all the staff needed for the festival, the dinner and the disco.

Once had lunch, we had the festival, in which each group of classes made a different show as a play, singing a song, sock pupets and similar. They had a lot of fun, and they could show the English learned during these weeks.

Afterwards, we went to the rooms to finish our baggage and changing our clothes for the disco.

Now, we are about to have dinner, in special tables, and finally we will go to the disco, with a photocall scenario drawn by the guys.

We hope they enjoyed a lot the summer camp and they will return next year.

The leaders.

ROLLER COASTER'S DAY

Hello everybody,

We are at the end of the BCU camp, and we are very sad because there are only two days left. We have had a really good time during these eighteen days. We think that today is the best day in all the camp because we went to Alton Towers.

We woke up a bit earlier than usually because we had to take the coach. During the trip we were very excited and we wanted to arrive as soon as possible. After one hour and a half, we arrived to Alton Towers. There, we split up in different groups, as we wanted, and we met with the leaders at half past one or two o'clock to have lunch. Some of the roller coaster we rode were: The smiler, Air, Nemesis, Rita and some more. We had a really good time there and we enjoyed a lot.

At six o'clock we returned to Birmingham. In the coach, most of us slept a little bit because we were exhausted. After dinner, we are now writing the blog and then we will watch "The Wizards of Waverly place". After that, we will have our last kitchen.

It was a very intense day and we want to repeat it.

OSCARS' AWARDS

Hello family,

Today, after breakfast, we finished our class books. It is our last formal day because tomorrow we will go to Alton Towers and on Friday we will prepare the festival. In Jamie's class we started with our workbook and then, we practised the festival. After the break, we did the final test for our marks. We think that it was a little bit easy but and we did very well.

Today, we had lunch later because of we finished later the classes, so we hadn't time to have class after lunch. More or less at three o'clock, we took the train to go to the centre of Birmingham like Sunday. We went to the Bullring as as three days ago but in contrast to Sunday we had two hours to go shopping.

When the time had finished, we went back to the residence with all the bags, and the we went to have dinner. Now we are writing the blog and then we will watch the short films that we recorded yesterday. After that, we will have the oscars' awards and then we will go to our kitchen with our mates and leaders.

We enjoyed a lot this day because we bought a lot of things to our family and we will watch our own creations. We are having a good time but it is finishing.

SHORT FILM'S DAY

Today we woke up at the same time as every day and after that we went to have breakfast. Then we went to our classes. As we are getting closer to the Festival day, Mai's class practised the play that we are going to do, in which we are having a lot of fun.

After having lunch,we had English lessons again and when we finished we went to the sports center to take a photo with some of the people of the summer camp doing the shape of the number fifty, because next year "Idiomas Pare Manyanet" is going to celebrate its 50 years.

After that, we joined our mates and, while some groups were recording their short film, the others were playing "the lucky rabbit". In sport time, we didn't practised an olympic sport, but it was a big surprise, because we danced. We could choose between aerobic and hip hop with our leaders Edu and Maria respectively.

Afterwards, we went to have dinner, and now we are watching "The Wizards of Waverly Place" whereas some people is still recording their short film.

We enjoyed a lot this day and we had so much fun with all the group.

SPORTS COMPETITION

Hello parents and children,

Today, we woke up a bit tired because we have been waking up early a lot of days. After breakfast, we continued with our English lessons. For lunch, we had a food better than other days, so we ate a lot. When we finished lunch, we returned to the classes but in the groups of workshops.

At four o'clock, we were in the sport centre to play the sport we chose a few days ago. We were split up in three groups: badminton, tennis/table tennis and swimming pool. We had a really good time playing and trying to win the matches or the races. We were surprise when one of our teachers came with us to the sport centre.

Before dinner, we had some time to have shower and having good time with our friends. Now, we are writing the blog and in a few moments we will finish the film "Iron man 3". We have had a really great time with our friends and leaders today.

BIRMINGHAM VISIT

Today, we woke up later than usually and we had breakfast with our flat's mates and our leader in the kitchen. When we finished, we went to Perry Barr station to take the train to go to the centre of Birmingham.

Once arrived, we went in groups to the mass in Saint Chad's cathedral. After the mass, we were in the same groups to visit the most important monuments and buildings of Birmingham like the Town Hall, Symphony Hall, The Mailbox or the canals. In the Mailbox, we had the chance to record a video of the weather news in BBC. To have lunch each group went to a different McDonald's.

After that, we went to the Bullring. It is a really big shopping centre. There, we used some helium balloons to make funny voices and we took some photos. After, we started to go shopping around all the Bullring. There were a lot of brands and we bought a lot.

Then, we went back to the residence by train and immediately we had dinner. Now, we are writing the blog and in a few moments we will go to watch a film called "Iron man 3". After the film, we will do the penalties and medals and we will go to the kitchen.

We enjoyed a lot this day and we bought a lot of things for our family and ourselves.

TALENT SHOW DAY

Today, we had an English breakfast. It is the second day that we have it in the camp and it is nice because we have variety. After, we went to classes to continue with our lessons. In Stephen’s class we worked with the workbook and after the break, we played some games and prepared the presentation for the afternoon.
After lunch, we went to the theatre to explain per classes something that we did this week. Later, we had some free time while some leaders were preparing the room to have a good Talent Show
.
We went to the dining room and we Talent Show started with a dance. Then all of us acted and finally the leaders danced also to finish. There were more dances, a body lifting, BCU gossips, a Harlem Shake and some magic tricks. We enjoyed a lot this afternoon.

After that, we came back to the theatre to see a magic show by our leader Gonzalo. When he finished, Patricia sang the song called “Someone like you”. Before going dinner, we saw some videos of some past activities like singstar videos or the dance machine.

Now, we are writing the blog and then we will see some Disney short film. After the medals, we will go to our kitchens with the leaders and mates. We had a really good time and we are enjoying a lot the camp.

LAST SKATING DAY

Today, after waking up, we need to take our thick socks because on the afternoon we were going to the skating. So as we put them in the bag, we went to have breakfast. Then, we went to class where Holly's class prepared the festival while in Stephan's class we continued with the grammar book.

We had lunch with our teachers, and then we took the bus for going to the Solihull Skating. At first, we took our skates and we started skating normally, but suddenly the lights went down and disco lights appeared. We had a lot of fun skating in a disco area.

Then, we took the bus to come back to The Coppice in BCU, where we were divided in groups to do the Short Film. We finished the scripts and we practised our lines, as we needed to memorise them. Now we are watching a documentary about Pitbull and Train that we like a lot. Finally, we are going to do medals and blog and go to the kitchen to have spare time with our friends.

It was a nice day.

VOLLEYBALL AND BASEBALL

We woke up at 8 o´clock as usual. After breakfast we went to classes to improve our English. We had a little test to know how much we have improved in these ten days. After the break time, some of us prepared the festival and other different things.

After lunch, we had workshops. Some of us started with Jamie doing "word search", and then we went to Nadja´s class to do a poster about something we like. The last workshop of our group was with Julie and we had to sing and make music. We have enjoyed a lot and the time passed so fast.

Then, we came back to the bedroom buildings to prepare the talent show for Saturday. After change our clothes we went to do some sport. Today we played volleyball and baseball. It was so funny and we had a really good time.

After the shower, we went to have dinner. Now we are writing the blog and in a few moments we will start a quiz about some of the places we visited in these ten days. We have had a really good time sharing our time with our mates and with our leaders.

STRATFORD-UPON-AVON

Today is a especial day because we went to Stratford-upon-Avon. After breakfast we took the coaches to the village where Shakespeare was born. When we arrived, we had a walk next to the river and we went to see his tomb inside a church. After that, we walked to the Shakespeare's house and then we had some free time to do some shopping. We took a lot of funny (and serious) photos in the church, in the house and in the Avon river.

For lunch, we took again the bus and we went to Star city and we were divided in two groups: one to eat in McDonald's and the other one to eat in KFC so good. After lunch, we played to Laser tag. It's a game like paintball bat with laser and you never die until the end of the game. We had a good time trying to get as more points as we could for our groups.

At seven o'clock we arrived to BCU to have dinner. Now we are writing the blog and watching a film called "Foot loose". We have had a really good different day and we enjoyed so much. When the film finish we will check the medals and then we will go to our kitchens with our leader.

PHOTOS' SCAVENGER HUNT

Today, we woke up at eight o'clock like every day. We had breakfast and we went to classes to continue with our grammar lessons. After the break we came back to classes and we were there with our teacher and a leader.

After that, we went to have lunch and we returned to classes to prepare the festival of last day.

In the afternoon, we returned to the bedroom buildings to do the gymkhana photos' scavenger hunt. The gymkhana consisted in taking ten different photos but each photo had instructions of what it had to appear. Some of that instruction were: take a photo of a signed board, do a pyramid with people or take a photo with a leader. We had a really good time trying to take the photo as better as we could.

When the gymkhana has finished we went to one kitchen with a leader to prepare the Talent Show that is going to be placed on Saturday. Most of girls were practising different dances. And the boys were doing other things like magic tricks or tell jokes.

Once had dinner, we are now writing the blog and watching "The Wizards of Waverly Place". We have had a good day with our friends and leaders.

STILL SUN IN ENGLAND

Today, we got up as normal at eight o'clock. First we had breakfast and then we did class. In one class, we did masks related to the story "Jack's magic beans". In another class, we did some posters with the information of the place that we chose (culture, weather, food...). Then, we had a break and we could have fun with our friends, even we had speaking in English, because today, we started with two medals. Then, we returned to classes where we do the other activities.

When the class finished, we had lunch and then we continued with the workshops of our teachers and writing the short story. Later, we went to the Sports Centre where we went to the swimming pool, played badminton, table tennis and tennis.

When it was the time, we returned to BCU to have dinner. Now, we are watching Blue Water High, and we are going to do medals and read the blogs.

We had a really nice day.

SOLIHULL AND FISH AND CHIPS DAY

Today, we got up at 8.45h so we could rest a little bit more. Then we had breakfast in the kitchen with our flatmates and our leader. Once finished, we went to Solihull.

When we arrived to Solihull, we went to the Mass. After that, we had free time for shopping. We bought different things in the Shopping Centre as hollister t-shirts or shorts. Most of the people got clothes from Hollister and GAP because in July there are sales in England also, and everything was cheap and cool.

As we were hungry, we met with our leaders to lunch. It was so nice that they took us to McDonald's where we could have a McMenú for our own. After some minutes, we were again shopping, until 15.45h when we met, and some people had so many bags that they couldn't carry them all.

We returned to BCU and we played and danced "Fish & Chips, a TV programme of TV3. We had 4 different activities, and we had a lot of fun. Spelling one was so stressful because if you fail you'd get a dish of cream to the face. We enjoyed it a lot, and we had a really good time.

Now we are watching Cheaper by a Dozen, a really good comedy film. In some minutes, we will go to our kitchens to gossip and then we will go to bed.

SWEET DAY

Today we woke up as usually, and we went to classes with our teachers. During classes, we prepared some oral expressions for after the lunch. So after the meal, each group made a different presentation; some of the topics were London, recipes, workshops and other topics.

After that, we had the Cake competition. We made groups with a leader in each one and we went to buy some ingredients for our cake to the mall next to university. When we finished the shopping, we went to the leader's kitchen to make it up. Our leader was Pablo and we made a cake with two parts: one of nutella and one of fruit, but all the cakes were fantastic and very original.

After dinner, the expected moment arrived, we did the party of Rafa's birthday with his cake and some presents. Later, we started the Cake contest. All the leaders said their opinion about the presentation of the cakes. Later, they tasted it and they announced the name of the winners. Now, full because of eating our cakes, we are in the theatre playing a Bingo.

Finally, as all the days, after doing the medals and reading the blog, we are going to our kitchens to talk about the incredible and unforgettable day.

SKATING DAY

Today, we woke up at eight o'clock as usually. After breakfast, we went to classes. We continued our grammar lessons and then we put it in practise after the break. But we were surprised when in the lunch time our class teachers came and had lunch with us and we had to talk with them.

After lunch we went to the bedrooms building to take the bus. We didn't have classes because we went to the ice rink to do ice skating. We had a really good time there; some of us could skate perfectly but there were few who had never skated before, and we all fall sometimes. We enjoyed a lot and we want to repeat.

After the ice skating, we went to a park near the ice rink and we had some free time to play over there with a ball or talk with our friends. We enjoyed the free time because the weather was similar to Spain.

Finally, we came back to our rooms to leave the bags and go to have dinner. Now we are writing the blog and then we will see some documentary of how somethings are made, and then finishing the Quizz.

To finish the day we will go to the kitchen with our leaders to talk about the day.

WORKSHOPS DAY

Today we could rest more than yesterday, because we didn't need to rise early.

After some grammar and doing the break we went back to classes with our teachers and leaders. Some of us saw how the plants grow up and we put in a cup some seeds with wet paper.

Afterwards, we had lunch, we ate macaroni with three type of sauces and jelly, profiteroles or chocolate with banana. Then,  we return to the residence to do workshop. We were divided in groups and we were going to the different kitchens. We were able to sang in the sing star, make a dog with balloons, Edu taught us how to do the wave with the arms, painted the flag of the united kingdom and we did percussion with a cup and the table. We enjoyed a lot the workshops and we hope we could have more time to repeat them.

After that, we had our second day of sports and we played dodgeball. We had a really good time, and then we had a shower and prepared for dinner. There, we met our new leader Alex, who has just arrived.

Now, we are doing a Quizz Contest, that leaders prepared, about BCU, English food, UK Culture, Timetable and of them.

Then, we will go to the kitchen and have some fun with our mates.

Today it was a routine day, but we enjoyed it a lot.

Alfonso, Jose, Maria R, Julia y Marta G.

LONDON DAY

Today, we get up so early, at 7am, but he had a good reason to do it, we went to London.

We get the bus at 7.30h until Oxford service station, where there were some restaurants to have breakfast. Then we continued our trip to London, where we started our visit.

We started our visit in Natural History Museum, which is next to the Science Museum. We were encouraged by the leaders to go in if we return to London, but today we didn't have enough time. We continued our way passing by Harrods, the most expensive department store in London, where the most luxurious items are found. Continuing our route through Buckingham Palace, we got to see the change of guard. We also noticed that the Queen was inside, but unfortunately, she wasn't in the balcony. Continuing by the Mall street, we get to Trafalgar Square and we took a picture with the lions, similar to the ones of Colon monument and Congreso de los diputados. Finally, we saw the "Big bang" (Big Ben) and Westminster Abbey where Prince William and Kate Middleton got married.

As we got to lunch time, we went to St James Park to have lunch. To finish the visit, we went to Picadilly Circus where we had some free time to buy some souvenirs. Next to it is placed Liecester Square, where there is a new shops of M&Ms and we were able to buy some sweets. Finally, we went to Covent Garden, where there were some parades and guys had some fun. One of the entertainer took Juanjo to guess the shape of a balloon while he was giving it a form. Then, we ended at the British Museum in which we had a flash visit.

To finish our visit we were driven through Tower Bridge of London and then we returned to the university. After the dinner, we had a speech with Father Sorribes.

London is a very beautiful city with very good people and very good shops if you like shopping.

Last day

Today it’s a really special day because it’s the last whole day we are spending together. The kids are really excited and also emotional because of it, because they know that they won’t see some mates for some months.

Today’s classes were used to practise the Festival being done in the afternoon., and we also saw some videos and did interactive activities.

In the lunch time, we could have omelette's and fries, what everyone enjoyed a lot because we hadn't tasted them since we are here.

After having lunch, the kids had a lot of fun in the Festival being done. Emily's class represented the play of Cinderella, Verity's class the play of Snow White and James' class a play related to Olympic Games which included singing and mimicking some sports. Later on, the prizes of sports, quiz and gymkhana were given, and also to the best student, Alicia. Congratulations to her.

Now they are changing their clothes for the Special Dinner and for the Disco. They are also packing their suitcases, and getting prepared for this night.

Leaders from BCU expect everyone enjoyed a lot this Summer Camp, as it is about to the end, we are preparing better things for next year, so prepare your baggage to come back again

See you soon.

Let's Party Rock tonight

Alton Towers Day

A lot of people agree with us to say that today is the best day. But to show it and make you agree us, better we explain it.

Well, we woke up earlier that other days, at 7.30am, what could seem to be a bad thing, but it was better so we could enjoy more the day. We dressed up, we had packed breakfast in our bedrooms and we took the bus to Alton Towers.

Once we got to the park, we were shocked because there were lots of people (we were told that today was planned to be 400 buses). We divided intro groups and then we had time to enjoy it.

As we had to meet the leaders at lunch time, some people chose to ride Nemesis or Oblivion, and most of us could only ride one of them because the queues were so long. After that meeting and having lunch, we continued riding more rollercoasters. Some of us bought a Fast Track so we could enjoy the most coasters we could in less time. The rides we enjoyed the most were: Oblivion, Nemesis, Air Th13rteen, Nemesis- Subterra and Spinball.

At 5.30pm we had to meet with our leaders again to come back. We talked and shared with each other which rides we enjoyed the most. Later on, we took the bus to come back to BCU and then we had dinner.

Now we are watching Blue Water High and after we will go to the bedrooms because we are really tired after the best day in the summer camp.

The cooking day

Today we have got a normal class day until the break. Once we finished the break, we made a very special activity: the BCU gymkhana. We had to go around BCU asking to the people several questions related to BCU, including one question that consisted in drawing the BCU logo, and other questions about library, where to eat, how much was the Sport Centre, and some other topics.

After lunch, we went to the kitchen and we started the activity of the day, the one  we enjoyed the most. Divided by group of tables, we had to go to the supermarket to buy the ingredients to make a cake. Some of us chose to make a very chocolate cake with a lot of nutella, some chose to do a little and minimalistic one, and some chose to decorate it so carefully. When we arrived to the kitchen we started to cook, adding the toppings we had chosen such as donuts, chocolate fingers, chocolate chips, gold vanilla spray, etc.

When we had dinner, we showed our cakes and we chose the best one. It was so fun, and the best from it was that we could eat our own cake for desserts.

After dinner, we did sports and today we it was also special: we could play football and we danced Hip Hop, because the leader Edu, is an expert on it.

Now, we are watching Zack and Cody and later we are going to come back to the bedrooms.

Competition day

Today we got up at the same our as every day. After wards, we went to our classes as usually. Some of us, continued practicing the play being showed next week in the Festival, and it’s going better and better.

Today breaktime was done in a different place, because it was rainning a lot and we didn't want to get wet, so we stayed in the sofas, and we could relax a bit from classes. Then we returned to classes and once finished we had luch.

For lunch, we had the spicy fajitas again. This is one of the meals that people enjoy the most because they are always accompanished with nachos, and we love them. As a monday, we had another hour of classes after the meal.

When we finished, we went to the swimmingpool, but today it was special, because the leaders organised a competition. We had to compete in swimming, table tennis or badminton, and everyone tried their best to win their own competition.

Later we returned to BCU to have dinner, and then we do Athletics. As if we were one of those athletes who are going to compete in London in August, we competed agains each other in relays, weight throwing and long jump.

Now we are watching Phineas and Ferb

Oxford's day

Today we woke up later than usual, and we could sleep a little bit more. We had breakfast in our kitchens with our leaders and flat mates.

At 10.00 am we took the bus and we went to the church in Birmingham. We had to wait twenty minutes but we were OK because it was sunny. The mass was alright but it was more difficult to understand than last week.

Then we went to Oxford. The trip was so long; we think it was like an hour and a half. We visited the famous clock in Carfax Tower, and we walked around Oxford streets. We could also see the Christ Church, were Harry Potter was recorded, the New Collage Lane and the Sheldonian Theatre. Once we finished, we had free time to buy some Oxford pullovers and some presents.

When we returned from Oxford, we had dinner. We ate some hot dogs, hamburgers and for dessert there were muffins, bananas and jellies.

Now we are watching Mission Impossible 4. Then we are going to pay the medals, and later Father Sorribes is going to talk us about values given by Padre Manyanet, and the friendships done in school and summer camps like this one that will stay for ever.

Afterwards, we are going to have our night snack in our kitchen.

Talent Show day

Today we woke up at the same time as yesterday. The difference was that today we had English breakfast.

For being saturday, we only had classes in the morning, and once we finished we had lunch. Today's lunch was pizza, so we enjoyed it a lot.

After the meal, we took the train to go to Birmingham centre. Firstly, we splitted in two groups; one of them went to visit the churches and the other one went to visit the channels, the BBC, the Mail box and the Symphony Hall. Later on, we had a lot of free time for going shopping around the Bullring.

Afterwards, we came back to BCU to have dinner.

After dinner we went to the rooms to get prepared for the Talent Show. We all participate with different performances. The girls started with a contest similar to "Tu sí que vales" called "Are you sure?" in which some girls were the jury and they acted so well. First group of girls started dancing "Starships". Then, another group danced "Boys will be boys". And finally a very brave girl, Andrea, sang the song "Yo te esperaré" alone. Later on, a group of boys did magic trticks, a shortfilm and a scary film. They were so good. Finally, the leaders danced a mig of songs and they were so good.

Now we are being told about the medals and then we are going to our kitchens.

A different day

Today we woke up at the same time as everyday. Our classes have been interseting because James class and Verity class change the teachers for each other, so we did a different class, learning interesting things with a different teacher than usually.

Later, we went to have lunch. Most of us, only ate rice because the other option was a little bit rare so we ate rice with ketchup. Afterwards we had an extra hour of class.

In the afternoon, we went to the swimming pool and we had an awesome time because we played different games. Despite the rain, some people played tennis.

After dinner, we were supossed to do sports, but as it was rainning we changed plans and we played board games as scrabble, twister, monopoly, domino, chess and many more.

Now we are watching Zack and Cody and we are laughting a lot.

A day in Warwick

Today after breakfast we went to Warwick by train. The thing is that we had to take two trains to get there, and they were so close in time, so we had to run to take the two trains in time, because the arrival stations and departure stations were different and we only had 10 minutes.

When we arrived to Warwick, we went to the famous castle. There, we could do so many things: visit the expositions inside the castle, archery, a show where some eagles flew so near above people's heads, and more. Only 13 people were brave enough to enter to The Dungeons of Warwick, a frightening show where you are explained frighteningly, how the dungeons were. We enjoyed the visit a lot, and we had a lot of fun in Warwick.

After Warwick, we returned to the campus, and after dinner we played another Quiz, but this one related to the trips we've done, BCU and Leaders.

Now we are watching Zack and Cody and after, as usually, we are going to the kitchen.
