21st of July

LAST DAY

Today we woke up at 6:45 and we had a lot of breakfast because we needed energy to our adventure day! 

We took two trains to get to the place of the activities and when we arrived we slipped in two groups: one went first to kayaking and the other to do climbing, then we changed. Kayaking was very funny but the water was so dirty so we didn’t want to fall! Climbing was very challenging but we all tried to reach the top of the rock. 

We had lunch, we had a sandwich, some crisps, an apple and a chocolate bar. Then we did our final activity: Jungle. This activity was about doing some challenges that we found in a jungle, but we think it was very easy! 

We had a lot of fun and we finally returned to finish our suitcase and phone our parents. We had shower and we changed ourselves to something fancier because we were going to have our last dinner in BCU and then a disco. 

We had barbecue and chocolate cake for dinner, it was delicious! 

When we ended to have dinner we danced in the disco. We had prepared some decoration for a photo call and the music so we had a very good time. But the danced ended with a video with all the pictures of all the weeks that made us cry a lot because we remembered the incredible moments of BCU. 

Every second of this summer camp has been so special, we have had a very good time with our friends and leaders, people that we will remember forever that has gave us incredible memories. We want to ask our parents if we can stay for one or two more weeks, we miss them a lot but we are going to miss so much BCU. 

It has been so special.

20th of July

FESTIVAL AND LAST ENGLISH LESSON

Today we woke up, we had breakfast and then we attended to our last day of English lessons. In class we did grammar and we invented a song of BCU. After the break we prepared the song for the festival: When I’m gone, the cup song. 

We ate some pasta with a lot of fruit and we did the festival. 

The festival opened with our presentation about our BCU experience and the songs that each group prepared. The other group sang Friends, from Mashmello. Then our teachers gave us the certificates and we gave them some presents for thanking them all their effort. 

After that we saw a video with all the pictures that we took in all the three weeks. All of us ended up crying because we don’t want to finish this summer camp (we think is the best camp of the world!!!!!!!!!!!). We were sad but then we turned up into a good moment because we started to receive prizes: we had one for the best student, the best photographer, Mastercheff, Photo Scavenger Hunt and MTV.

Our final prize was for the medals: in this three weeks we have been playing a game that it was that if we spoke Spanish we had to pay, so today we had a table full of presents (payed with the money of the penalties) and we could chose in order to the number of medals that we had. Paula didn’t had any medal (because she spoke a lot of English) so she was the first one to choose the present! 

Finally, Padre Sorribes gave presents to our leaders and we returned to our accommodations to prepare the final party: we had one group for the decoration, one for the music and one for some games. Before having dinner, we had some time to prepare our suitcases. 

We had dinner at 7, as usually. We ate beef, vegetables with cheese, peas and some chocolate. To end the day, we saw “Up”. Now we are going to have a shower, do some kitchen and go to sleep early because we have adventure day tomorrow and we want to have a lot of energy!

19th of July

SPORTS & BINGO DAY

Dear parents, today we had a lot of fun. To start the day, we woke up at 8:15 and we had breakfast. We ate cereals with milk and a toast with ham.

Then we prepared ourselves to go to class. In class we split in two groups, one group wrote letters to our monitors and to our friends about our experience in the summer camp. 

During the break we played soccer and volleyball. 

At lunch time we ate fish and chips, its the tipical dish in England. Then we still had some time to play more football. 

We had our afternoon class and then we went to the accomodations to change our clothes. Today’s activity was sports!!!

We went to the field and we played footbase, which is a mix of football and baseball. Then we split in three groups and we did some more activities, for example kick a big ball more than 25 times or find things that were hidding in the field.

After the activity we had a shower and we had dinner. We ate hot dog with fries, corn and sweet onion. For dessert we a delicious brownie.

To continue, we finished yesterday’s film, the minions one. Then played a special bingo, were the images we had to cross were related to London. We algo had some challenges between the game.

To finish the day we went to our rooms, we put our pyjama, did a prayer and had some kitchen.

Now we are going to go to sleep.

18th of July

ALTON TOWERS!!

Today we had to woke up earlier because we were going to Alton Towers and the coached leaved at 8 o’clock but we didn’t mind because we were so excited about going there. 

The coach came to the residence but we had to stop at Moor Street for the Leamington group. We had one hour and a half of trip and finally we arrived to Alton Towers, approximately at 10:30. 

We entered in and before leaving to go to the attractions, Chema said us that we will meet at 2 o’clock in the frogs lake to see that everyone was fine and to eat all together. Then we slipped in groups and we went to enjoy the park. 

The first attraction that we went it was Sonic Spinning Ball: it was about a roller coaster that turned around in circles all the time, then we went to the smiler (the biggest roller coaster with most loopings in the world). There we did 3 hours of queue line. At first we thought that it was very boring but as there were a lot of us together we finally had a good time talking, and the waiting it was very worth it!!! 

Because of the long queue, the group that were in the Smiler couldn’t go to meet Chema at 2 o’clock, but as Natalia and Cristina were waiting there with us, there was any problem. 

At the afternoon we could go to 4 or 5 attractions more and they were all awesome, but our favourite was the smiler and sonic (the ones that we went on the morning). 

We caught the coach at 17:15 and we returned to have dinner to the residence. We were very tired so some of us slept on the coach. We arrived at quarter to eight and we had a good meal waiting for us: some pizza and strawberry ice-cream. 

Finally, we had some pop-corn while we watched “Despicable me”. Then we did the prayer and now we are going to sleep. It was an incredible but very exhausting day!!!!

17th of July

POOL AND QUIZ DAY!

Today we woke up at 8 o’clock. We had breakfast and then we went again to class. When we arrived, we separated in two classes according our level of English and then at class we created our theme park “Aloca coca”, it has got a song, a mascot, shops for souvenirs, a map, shows, and lots of roller coasters.

We had lunch at 13:00h, we ate pasta with garlic bread and strawberry ice-cream. After having lunch, we went directly to the swimming pool. We had to take two trains to get there, because the pool was in Coventry. We chose this swimming pool because there was a slide, but today there were fixing it, so we couldn’t use it. Anyway, the pool was bigger than the other one and had some waterfalls. 

We returned to the residence to have dinner, but we didn’t like

what we had: it was a very strange omelette. But the dessert was very good: we had some donnut filled of strawberry jam. 

The activity after diner was very challenging: we separated into four groups and did a quiz about different topics (BCU, leaders, children, food and England) and there were questions about them. It was so funny and we think that we did it pretty good! Finally the group BALA (formed by Berta, Àlex, Leyre and Ariadna) and the Four Pack (Arnau Moliner, Blaca, Óscar and Marc Miralles) were the finalist, so we did a final quiz to see who was the winner and it was BALA! 

Finally, Chema gave us a little bit of information of Alton Towers to have information about the best roller coasters but it was shot because we wanted to go to sleep early for tomorrow, we have been looking forward this day since the first week! 

Now we are going to do the prayer and then to sleep. Good night!

16th of July

MTV SHOW!

Today we woke up at 8 o’clock and we had breakfast, it’s our last Monday! We went to class and we learned about talking about the future, the world-cup and the clothes that people will wear on the future. We did a game too called the director, it was about a person that does something and the other have to copy and then the person in the middle has to guess who’s the director. 

Then we had lunch, we ate salad, smashed potatoes, sausages and pizza. After having lunch we did another hour or class before doing our afternoon activity. 

This afternoon activity has very exiting: we had to prepare a MTV. First, we had 3 hours to rehearse and after dinner we would do our performance. We decided to sang but our friends decided to dance, play with cards… 

Before dinner we played “Factory of challenge”: it was about different challenges like making a pyramid, mimics or measure the corridor… It was very funny! We laugh a lot. 

We had a meet cake, salad, beans and French fries for dinner and then finally it was the time to perform! The first group danced a Tripablobsky song, the second one a dance of the film grease, the third another dance with the song One kiss, then some people sang Toy and finally there was a performance about singing Friends and explaining the song with cards. All of them were very good but there has to be a winner!

Before announcing the best one the leaders danced a song and finally we knew that the best one was Toy! 

Finally we played “the village sleeps” and now we are going to have a shower, talk in the kitchen and eat some snack and finally go to sleep.

15th of July

MASS & SHOPPING DAY!!!

Hello! Good morning!! Today we woke up at 8 o’clock and we had breakfast. We ate cereals with milk. Because today is Sunday, the last one, we had no class.

So, after breakfast we went to the train station but all the trains were cancelled; so we decided to go to the city centre by bus. 

At 11 o’clock we went to the mass, some of us could bring the bread and the wine. After the mass, we went to McDonalds and we had our lunch. Some of us ate a hamburguer, others chicken sandwich and the others decided to take nuggets. We shared fries and we all had fizzy drinks or water. 

Then, we went to the Bullring to buy things. We spent there around 3 hours. However we couldn’t see the Worlfcup Final (Croacia agains France). 

After that, we returned to the accomodation by bus. When we arrived we played some games that require to run and to hide. 

At 7pm, we had dinner. We ate pizza!!!! And pasta and fries. For dessert we could choose between a piece of fruit and a cake. 

Then, we played “hide the ball” and “the director”. We also had time to go to the field to play more games like “police&thiefs”. 

After that, we had a shower, a prawer and some time to chat in the kitchen and to have a snack. Now we will go to sleep!

It was a fantastic day!!

14th of July

MASTERCHEF DAY!!

Today we woke up at 8 o’clock, we had breakfast: some cereals, orange juice and a toast with butter and peach jam, and then we went to class. Today we had class because yesterday we went to London, so we had to recover yesterday’s class. 

In class we did a worship of sports and presentations. We learned different name of sports and the best for us are swimming, climbing and football. We liked this activity and then we did some presentations 

After that we met two new people: our new English teacher and another leader, Chema, he’s very friendly, funny and generous. Chema is here because today Rachel has gone, and we are going to miss her a lot!!!

For lunch we ate some hamburgers, salad, tomato and for dessert fruit and jelly. 

Our afternoon activity was exciting: we were doing Mastercheff. We had to do a recipe of a dessert, do a list of what we need and go to buy it to then cook it. We went all together to the supermarket, and we had to hurry up to buy everything. 

Then, we went to the kitchens to cook what we had designed: we did a “oreo rock ball” and a “beautiful like you”. They were made of, icre-cream, oreo, strawberries, chocolate, cream… Our mates did a “British cake” and “summer drink with hippo happy”. We did our best!!! 

We had Chinese noodles and for dessert what we had cooked, but first our leaders pretended to be the judges of MasterChef to see who is the winner: we’ve got a prize for originality and taste. 

After dinner we played two games: the people sleep and pi. Both very funny, we cannot chose which one we do prefer.

Now we are going to have a shower some kitchen and finally to sleep

13th of July

LONDON DAY!!!

Today we woke up at 7am, we had breakfast and we ate a toast with jam and juice or milk. We prepared our packed lunch and we went to the train station. Then we arrived to Birmingham New Street and walked to Moor Station. There, we took the train that goes directly to London. When we arrived we went to Hyde Park. 

We did our presentation and we walked through the park to go to the next stop. Our next stop was Harrods, a building with a lot of expensive and luxurious shops. Then, we walked to the Natural History Museum. There we read some information about London. Then, we had lunch. Our packed lunch wad made of a sandwich, chips and a kitkat. 

Later, we took a bus to go to Buckinham Palace. We did some more presentations and took a lot of pictures. To continue with the tour we went to the Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. The Big Ben was covered because it was being repaired. Then, we also saw the London Eye. After that, we took the underground to go to the London Bridge. In that stop we saw the bridge and the Tower of London. We also did our presentations and took pictures. 

Then, we took the underground again to go Picadilly Circus. There, some of us went to the M&Ms world and the others to Lego. After that, we bought some souvenirs and some also went to Hamleys, a gigant toy store. 

With this last stop we took the underground one last time to go London Station. The train to Birmingham was about 2 hours.

When we arrived to Birmingham, we had dinner in the city centre, in Pizza Hut. Then, we took a “two-flat” bus to return to the accomodation. 

We are very tired but it was a fantastic day!!!!!!

Now we will have a shower and we will go to sleep.

12th of July

SCAVENGER HUNT!

Today we woke up at 8:15 and we had breakfast. We ate toast with ham and cheese or with butter and jam, and cereals with milk and some juice.

After breakfast, we prepared ourselves to go to class. During the class, we did worksheets about how to give direcctions and about London. We also played some games. During the break we played football and we chatted with our friends. In the English class we also prepared some presentations about the places we will visit in London tomorrow! We are very excited.

For lunch, we ate pasta with tomato sauce, garlic bread and fruit. After lunch we did more class and we showed our presentations to our friends.

The afternoon activity was a “scavenger hunt”. We had to take photos about some things that are placed in the fields and next to our accomodations. For example: a house with the name of a fruit or a photo looking like “the Beatles”.

Then, we had dinner. We ate potatoes with cheese and tuna, beans, fruit and a cake. After dinner we played some more football and we went to our flats. There, we revised our medals and we read the blog. 

Now we are having the shower and writting the blog. We will do a short kitchen and go to sleep because tomorrow we will walk a lot!!

We are really looking forward tomorrow’s trip in London!!!!

11th July

Today we woke up at the same time as every day, we had breakfast and we went to class. Today at class, we finished the menu: we pretend we had a restaurant and we serve food and we imagine what menu we would like to have. For instance, there’s tacos, salad with tomato, pasta, wraps…

We finished the classes earlier to go to Stratford-upon-Avon: the Shakespeare birthplace. We got there by train.

Just arrived, we had lunch: we ate the omelettes that we prepared yesterday in a park. Then we started walking: we first saw Trinity Church and we entered in. In this church Shakespeare was baptised and buried.

Then walked near the river Avon and we the national theatre, swans and the Clapton bridge. At the end of the river some of us make some tattoos, we saw ship entering in the canal and others ate some ice-cream.

Then we walked to the principal street to buy souvenirs. In this principal street there’s Shakespeare house, and some of us (the ones that we wanted) could visit it. They said that it was amazing.

We bought gives for our families and some sweets.

Finally, we returned by train to the residence to have dinner. We ate chicken hamburgers, chips, tomatoes and smashed potatoes while we were watching the would cup match. Today England and Croatia were playing, and Croatia won.

To end the day we went to the accommodations to take a shower, talk a little bit In the kitchen and go to sleep because we had an exhausting day, we walked a lot.

10th July

Today we woke up at 8:15am and we had breakfast. We ate cereals, toast with ham with butter. We drunk milk and tropical juice.

After breakfast, we went to class to do worksheets, they were about food. We learnt some vocabulary about how to make a menu. Today we finished the class 30 minutes earlier because we were going skating. We had lunch at 12:30. We ate a Subway sandwich and we drunk water. 

We took the bus at 13h and we travelled to the ice skating place for 35 min.

When we arrived we put our long socks, our gloves and our skates. We could skate for 2h. Some of us felt a lot of times, some almost didn’t...some of us were very fast!!!

Then, we changed to our normal shoes and walked to a park. We spent some time there, playing football, card games and chatting. 

After that, we took the bus home and we had dinner. For dinner, we ate salat, rice, chicken, spring rolls and vegetables. For dessert we ate a cake and a piece of fruit.

Then, we watched the France vs Belgium. France won 1-0. Guillem went to help some of the leaders to cook omelette for tomorrow’s packet lunch. 

When the match finished, we all returned to the accomodation and we preparer out tupper. 

Then, we did our daily shower, we spent some time in our kitchen and now we will go to sleep!

It was a really good day because we learnt how to ice-skate!! It was amazing!!

9th July

Today we started again English class, we did a recipe of potion and a Harry Potter dossier.

The ingredients of the potion were: some cats, snakes, spiders, vegetarian sausages and tomatoes. In the Harry Potter dossier we had information about their films and books, and we worked hard with the regular and irregular verbs.

We had lunch, we ate some lasagne, fries and some fruit for dessert. For the last hour of class after the lunch we did a presentation of the potion of Harry Potter.

 

At the afternoon we went to the swimming pool, we played some catch game, we swam, we did races… We stayed there for two hours, and we had a good time.

We got again to the residence to have dinner, this time we ate fish, potatoes, some pasta, salad, vegetables, tomatoes and finally we could have some lemon cake and fruit.

Finally, we did some sport doing some races in the field. It was very funny because we run a lot, we fell and we did our best to win.

Today it was a good day but we are very tired because we walked a lot to get to the pool and then the racings were exhausting. Now we are going to do the prayer, some talking in the kitchen and go to sleep.

8th July

Today we woke up a little bit later, we had breakfast and we went directly to the centre.

When we arrived, we went to mass. This mass was special because it was the first the priest that gave us the mass. Paula and Guillem helped carrying the bread and the wine, so they were very happy.

After that we went to have lunch. We ate some chicken, fries and coke at KFC. When we finished to have lunch, we went to the bullring to do some shopping. We had three hours to buy everything that we wanted. Some of us had ice-cream and slush too.

The most popular thing that we bought were: perfumes from Victoria’s secret, teddy bears, headphones with microphones, some sweets and some of us clothes. We think that the bullring is very big and cool, and it’s more similar to la Illa Diagonal of Barcelona or Gran Plaza 2 of Madrid than Corte Inglés.

We are looking forward next week to buy the things that we didn’t have time to buy, but first we want to see shops in London.

Then we returned to the residence to have a shower and have dinner. For dinner we had peas and meet, but we weren’t hungry because the meals timetables is very different from Spain.

Finally, we watched a film before going to sleep. It has been a great day!!!

7th July OXFORD DAY

OXFORD DAY

Today we woke up at 7am very excited. Today we were going to Oxford!

Firstly, we had breakfast; we ate a toast with butter and jam, milk with cereals and biscuits.

After breakfast, we took the train to go from Perry Bar to New Street. Then we went to Moor Street and we took the train to Oxford. In Banbury we met the people from Leamington and we took a bus. The bus travelled to Oxford. There we another breakfast: a croissant with a “Kitkat” and an orange juice.

When we arrived to Oxford, we did a tour in the city. We had some explanations in each stop and we visited a lot of places. We started with the Christ College, the university that inspired Harry Potter books and films. After taking some pictures we saw some people playing cricket in a field and some people giving food to the ducks. The next stop was Saint Mary’s Church. There were bells that were ringing all the time!!! The other stop in the same square was the Radcliff monument. It was a building that was like a circle. The next stop was another part of the University of Oxford. Then, we stopped to have lunch in a “park”. We ate the wraps that we prepared yesterday. They were delicious!!! We also had chips and water.

After lunch, we went to a library that was very big and nice. There were a lot of books. To continue, we had some free time to buy souvenirs. We went shopping and bought some Oxford jumpers, clothes, teddy bears, keyrings, wands and other Harry Potter object.

After some shopping we visited “The Covered Market” and we ate homemade cookies. Then we walked to through the main street and some us bought “Squishies”. Then we returned to the bus stop and we travelled to Banbury.

In Banbury we took the train that brought us to Birmingham. In Birmingham we took another train to go to Perry Bar.

We went to the Den to had dinner. We ate chicken hamburgers, pasta and fries. For dessert we took fruit and cake. After that, we chatted with our friends, we also saw what the others had bought in Oxford. Then, we returned to the accommodation and we had a shower.

We are very tired today! But it was fantastic!!!

6th July

Today it was the last day of classes of the week.

He had breakfast, as usually, and then we went to class. Today at class we ended the arts and crafts activity about Birmingham and we prepared the presentation: this presentation is about the city of Birmingham, we talk about the canal, the bullring, the library, the trains, the weather and the BBC channel. We enjoyed a lot because we find this city very interesting.

We did a break in the middle of the classes where we could play and then at 1pm we had lunch. We ate pasta, fries, hamburgers and salad. After that, we did a video of the presentation and later we went to do the afternoon activity.

This afternoon activity has been about Harry Potter: first we did a poster of our shield, that we could choose between the four houses Slytherin, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff and we draw and painted them by ourselves.

We needed these shields because then some leaders from other years came to play Quiddich with us. Quiddich is a game of magic people. We liked a lot this and we had a lot of fun, but we ended exhausted because we had to run a lot and fins the snitch.

Finally, we had dinner. We had some tacos and we ate a lot because we runed a lot in the Queedich game.

Now we are going to shower, prepare our wraps for Oxford, we are going to be fill them with chicken, corn, tuna, salad, rice and tomato. Meanwhile, we can play some table games, but today we are going to sleep soon because tomorrow we have to wake up very early.

5th July

Hello! Today we started the day with a very good breakfast, a toast with butter and jam, cereals with milk and and orange juice. After that, we went to “the Den” to do the classes with Jerry. During the class we invented our country and some worksheets. 

For lunch, we ate corn, salat, rice and pizza. As a dessert we had apples an ioguts. 

After lunch we did a writting exam. The teacher taught us some tips to write an email and after that we wrote the letter.

Our afternoon activity was bowling. We went to the train station and travelled to the bowling alley. There, we split in 3 groups of 6 and we played. 

After the game, we played with some of the machines of that place. Some of us won a lot of tickets and we received some presents.

We returned to the accomodation and we had dinner. We ate chicken, pasta, vegetables and sweet potatoe. Our dessert was a cake.

After dinner we called our parents and we played a game. We had to run to catch a piece of cloth. 

After the game we had a shower and now we are writting the blog. 

Now we are going to sleep.

4th July ARTS & CRAFTS

Today we woke up 8 o’clock and we had breakfast: we had toast and cereals, as every day. We didn’t get some juice but we had the choice. Then we brushed our teeth and prepared our bag to go to our class of English.

Today at class we did a listening, a writing and a reading test. We think that there were parts easier than other, but we could do it good. When we ended that, we make an arts and craft activity, that was about drawing and using our imagination to recreate Birmingham. As yesterday we went to the centre, we know a lot of buildings and structures from there. We did some boats for the canals, the bridge and the bull ring, that is a shopping centre.

Today for lunch we had pasta with tomato sauce, salad and sausages. We like it pretty much. As a dessert, we had strawberry ice-cream.

When we ended to eat, we went to the accommodations to dye our white t-shirts: we were divided in two teams (green and orange) and then we colour our t-shirt according the colour of our group.

Then we went outside to make some juggling balls with rice and balloons: we full a balloon with rice and then we put another to coat it. We tried to juggle but we were too bad.

We had dinner at 19h and we ate an omelette that we didn’t like it because it was made at the English way. Although we didn’t like the dinner we had energy for the next activity, that was very funny: we recreated the fish and chips program. We did a taboo, Pictionary, spelling, stop and password game. The teams were the orange and the greens one and we didn’t had a winner because we had a draw. The game that we liked the most was password because we laugh a lot with our answers.

Now we are going to have a shower and gossip a little bit in the kitchens all the girls together.
